Our Vision

The vision of Laramie Reformed Presbyterian Church is to be a growing family of true worshipers. Here is what that means.

Growing

Growth happens in three ways. The obvious way to grow is to add people! We desire to regularly see those who do not know Jesus Christ put their faith in him and join together with his people. Less obvious, but still important, is the growth that happens in a person's life. We strive to be sanctified by the Holy Spirit as we follow our Lord. Finally, one of the natural results of growth is that whatever is growing spreads out. We want to grow by being a "sending" church - when members relocate, we see this not merely as the result of finding a new job or graduating from the university, though that's often what it looks like on the outside. We see this as God sending them to a new place to be a light for him, and we want to send them off with a vision for the kingdom of God.

Family

Jesus said that his disciples would be recognized by their love for one another. We actively cultivate that love in our church. We are not merely a group of people who happen to be in the same place every Sunday morning. We call one another, visit one another, help one another, and serve one another. In a word, we love one another. We desire always to be growing in that love.

True

This word and the next come directly from John 4:23-24 where Jesus says to the woman at the well, "The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." In this context the word "true" means "real," and that is the first part of what we intend by this vision statement. We don't want to be hypocrites. Beyond that, we also recognize the emphasis in these verses on truth. We ground everything we do in the Bible and place a high priority on knowing, understanding, and applying it to our lives.

Worshipers

This word reminds us that our vision is not about us. It is about God. We believe that all things have been created for his glory, including us, and we seek to direct all our efforts toward giving him the glory he deserves!
